Cleaning Your Grill

Hopefully at this point in the summer, you have been grilling for quite some time. And hopefully you’ve been cleaning your grill before each use. If you haven’t, you really should, and here’s how…

First, preheat the grill. When it’s good and hot, hold a wadded up piece of foil with a pair of tongs (or if you’re not feeling that DIY-esque, use a wire brush) and scrub the grate in the direction of the bars.

Second, oil the grate. Do this by folding a paper towel into a small square and dipping it in a bowl of vegetable oil, letting the excess drip off. Use your tongs again, this time to hold the paper towel, and rub it over the bars of the grate. Don’t let oil fall onto the coals.

Voila! You have a clean grill, ready to be used. The benefit of oiling your grill after cleaning it is that your food won’t stick, which can be a pain.
